Paper aeroplane investigation

In science club our next challenge is to investigate the best paper aeroplane.  Each group can only investigate one aspect of a paper aeroplane for example it's size, material or the shape of the wings.  we have already designed some planes.  We now need to to think about how we will conduct a fair scientific test.

What variable will you change?

How will you record and present your results ?

How will you make sure the test is fair?

How will you make sure the test is safe ?

Our bean investigations

Part of being a scientist is presenting your findings to others.  Science club made these presentations to show what they found out about plant growth.  They are starting to develop their own hypothesis and analyse their results in more detail.  They had some creative ideas of what they would investigate and learnt lots about how to ocnduct a scientific experiment fairly.

How would you present your work differently in future to explain your experiment better to an audience?

Investigating how plants grow

This week students were challenged to grow the tallest bean plant.  They created their own experiements to investigate how to grow the biggest bean plant. Some students thought that feeding different substances to the plant might help them grow.  Some students decided to plant their beans in a variety of materials.  Another group thought that they would play different music to their bean plants to see which type would help the bean grow fastest.

What did you discover?

Were the tests fair?

How could the test be improved?

How could you show your results clearly ?

Science Club

In science club we have investigated a number of different concepts. We are developing our scientific investigation skills and beginning to plan experiments more independently.  So far we have investigated light, the density of water and how plants grow.

What must you remember when carrying out a scientific experiment?
What have you learnt from our experiments so far ?
